Haiti’s World Cup Hopes End with Concacaf U20 Elimination

The beautiful journey of the young Grenadières in the U-20 Women's World Cup qualifiers has come to an unfortunate end. Against Guyana on Tuesday, February 25, the Haitian U-20 women's team bowed out (0-1), eliminating itself from the race for the World Cup in this category, set to take place in Poland in 2026. Haiti must once again wait to see its U-20 women's national team qualify for a World Cup final phase. Indeed, after overcoming Antigua and Barbuda (3-1) and Belize (4-0), the young Grenadières stumbled against a valiant Guyanese team that secured victory by the narrowest of margins.

To face Guyana, Frenoy Baptiste placed his trust in a starting eleven consisting of Mahe Lee Caron (GK), Djoulissa Pierre, Yvena Murat, Esther Valéus, Dalanchy Pierre (captain), Ella Marie A. Etienne, Pierreline Nazon, Néhémie Sainvilus, Chesnaïda Nicolas, Alexia Laurie Pascal, and Brianna Crèvecœur. Despite a slight dominance from the young Grenadières, the repeated efforts from both sides did not alter the initial score by the end of the first half (0-0).
