Countdown Begins for the CPT...

348 days until the end of the mandate of the members of the Presidential Transition Council. Sworn into office on April 25, 2024, ten months later, the presidential advisers have not solved any of the problems for which the international community had ousted Prime Minister Ariel Henry. Worse still, the country’s situation has deteriorated. A member of the CPT told Le Nouvelliste that they are aware of this reality before revealing some of the causes behind the Council’s failure.

Nine presidents in office. Ten months in power. No results—not even superficially. The Presidential Transition Council is not even stagnating; it is moving backward. Restoring security and organizing elections were the only missions assigned to the Council members. After much difficulty, they managed to establish a Provisional Electoral Council, but neither its composition nor its actions have convinced anyone.
