UNICEF Spokesperson James Elder Calls for Continued International Support for Haiti

UNICEF spokesperson James Elder visited Haiti from January 26 to 29, 2025. Witnessing the scale of the crisis firsthand, he urged the international community not to turn a blind eye to the children of Haiti during an interview with the newspaper.

After a three-day visit to Haiti, UNICEF spokesperson James Elder, who witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of the security and humanitarian crisis on children, spoke with Le Nouvelliste. In 2024, gang violence affected 2.7 million people in Haiti, including 1.6 million women and children. Nearly 94,000 children are now living in makeshift displacement sites. According to UNICEF, three million children will require humanitarian assistance in 2025.
