An employee of the U.S. diplomatic mission in Haiti was injured during an armed attack on one of the embassy's vehicles on Monday, January 20, 2025, the spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince confirmed to Le Nouvelliste.
"An armored vehicle belonging to the U.S. Embassy was hit by gang gunfire today. A Haitian employee was injured and is currently receiving local medical care," the U.S. Embassy informed the newspaper.
The attack occurred on the day of President Donald Trump's inaugu
