PNH Reinforced by 739 New Officers

A total of 739 police officers, including 213 women, from the 34th cohort have joined the Haitian National Police (PNH) after completing five months of training at the National Police Academy in Frères. These new officers are expected to bolster the institution in its fight against major crime and armed violence in the country. Council President Leslie Voltaire pledged to support the security forces in reopening national roads, securing airports and ports, reclaiming downtown Port-au-Prince and the Artibonite Valley, and enabling 700,000 displaced persons to return to their neighborhoods in peace.

The graduation ceremony for the 34th cohort, named Vertières, took place on Friday, January 10, 2024, in Frères, in the presence of diplomats, members of the Presidential Transition Council, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the President of the Supreme Court, Jean-Joseph Lebrun, government officials, and other dignitaries.
