Haiti’s ambassador to the UN, Antonio Rodrigue, stated that the situation in the country “has significantly deteriorated” since November, with armed gangs becoming “more violent and more audacious,” subjecting the population to “constant fear.” Rodrigue made these remarks while calling on the UN Security Council to transform the Multinational Security Assistance Mission (MSS) into a peacekeeping mission during an information session requested by China and Russia on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
