Ministry for Women’s Rights Celebrates Three Decades of Service

On November 8, 2024, the Ministry for the Status of Women and Women’s Rights (MCFDF) celebrated three decades of commitment to the rights of women at the Karibe Convention Center. The event, themed "The Same Struggle for a Society Free of Violence," marked a significant milestone for the ministry, which was founded on November 8, 1994. Established amidst public skepticism, the MCFDF has emerged, with the support of Haitian feminist movements, as a key player in promoting women’s rights in Haiti.

In her speech, Minister Marie Françoise Suzan reflected on the ministry’s early days, saying, "At its inception, many doubted the relevance of a ministry dedicated to women’s rights. But thanks to the determination of Haitian feminist movements, the ministry has become a strong voice for women who had long been forgotten." Today, she affirmed, "The voices of women are heard and taken into account in important decisions regarding the future of the country." For state leaders Gary Conille and Leslie Volta
