Jocelerme Privert Demands the Rapid Conclusion of the Transition

The ongoing transition must urgently come to an end, demanded former President Jocelerme Privert. Speaking on Magik 9 radio on Friday, November 8, 2024, the former president of the National Assembly called for the swift organization of elections to put an end to the succession of transitions that has lasted since July 2021.

Privert, who served as transitional president from 2016 to 2017, reaffirmed the necessity of a transition. According to him, a transition implies “the disruption of constitutional order” and is meant to ensure a quick return to “constitutional normality,” pointing out that the Constitution outlines the manner and timeline for filling vacancies in the executive branch.

"The fundamental goal of any transition is the return to constitutional order through the organization of elections," Privert stated
