Police Arrest Presidential Security Officer and Other Suspected Arms Traffickers

A police officer assigned to the Presidential Security Unit (Cat Team) was apprehended by law enforcement in Pétion-Ville. Jean Renel Pierre, a graduate of the 21st PNH class, was detained during a surveillance operation on Muler, a member of the Krafe Dife gang, who was making a transaction at a commercial bank in a blue pickup truck.

“The surveillance covered both the external and internal perimeter of the commercial bank. The Cat Team officer approached the vehicle before he was apprehended,” explained PNH spokesperson Michel-Ange Louis-Jeune. During a search of the officer’s vehicle, authorities found 237,000 gourdes, an iPhone 14 Pro Max, an S5, a Galaxy S8, a 9mm pistol, 18 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a magazine, over 2,600 rounds of various calibers, two fluorescent vests, and a tactical knife.
