"During the third quarter of 2024 (July to September), data collected by the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) recorded 1,223 deaths and 522 injuries resulting from gang violence and efforts to counter these gangs. In addition, at least 170 people were kidnapped for ransom," stated a BINUH press release on Wednesday, October 30. The statement emphasized that “criminal violence remains concentrated in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince and in the Artibonite department."
