Electoral Surprises

Lately, as has always been the case, various elections have reminded us that ballots often yield surprises, unexpected outcomes, and results that can be either disheartening or joyful.

In Haiti, as elsewhere, whether it's a class committee or the election of a pope, nothing is guaranteed between casting a vote and the announcement of the results.

A few months ago, we witnessed European elections followed by early legislative elections in France, both yielding results that displeased the major political blocs.
