In recent days, additional security incidents have been reported. Vehicles from the U.S. Embassy and a U.N. helicopter have been shot at amid clashes between law enforcement and gangs.
The U.S. Embassy confirmed that two of its vehicles were shot at last Monday. “Two armored vehicles belonging to the U.S. Embassy were targeted by gang gunfire, with one of them hit by several bullets yesterday,” stated the embassy. Photos of the damaged vehicles suggest they were struck by projectiles from assault rifles.
