Losing Haiti is Not an Option,’ Declares Ambassador Marco Peñín Toledano

The Embassy of Spain in Haiti celebrated the national holiday of Spain on Saturday, October 12, 2024, during a ceremony held at the El Rancho Hotel. Presided over by Spanish Ambassador Marco Peñín Toledano, the celebration was attended by presidential advisors Leslie Voltaire and Frinel Joseph, Marie Françoise Suzan, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps, and members of civil society institutions.

During this celebration of Spain's national day, also known as "the day of the encounter between Spain and America," Ambassador Peñín Toledano emphasized the need for collective efforts to support Haiti. “It is absolutely unacceptable for us to lose Haiti,” the ambassador asserted, stating that the alternative would be “gang violence, illegal trafficking in all forms, and the loss of a sister nation.”
