CEP Formation: POHDH Proposes Initiatives for Human Rights

The Haitian Platform of Human Rights Organizations (POHDH) and the Citizen Organization for a New Haiti (OCNH) remain at odds over the selection of a representative for the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). On Magik 9, Rosy Auguste Ducéna, a member of the POHDH, urged the Transitional Presidential Council to “assign this choice to an organization dedicated to promoting and defending the rights of persons with disabilities” in order to resolve the dispute and unblock the process.

During the broadcast on Magik 9, Ducéna recounted the difficulties encountered from the outset of the process to appoint a member to the CEP. These difficulties included issues with eligibility criteria and the participation criteria of the organizations. Nevertheless, the process began with the registration of 135 organizations claiming to be human rights organizations.

According to Ducéna, following these registrations, the POHDH and OCNH reached an agreement on a set of criteria, including: a minimum of three years
