Executive Establishes a Reduced Provisional Electoral Council

During a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the executive branch decided to appoint a seven-member Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) while awaiting the resolution of internal conflicts within the human rights and women's rights sectors.

In a statement posted on X, the Prime Minister's office announced, "At the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, chaired by the President of the Transitional Presidential Council, Mr. Edgard Leblanc Fils, accompanied by the Council Presidents, Messrs. Smith Augustin, Louis Gérald Gilles, Fritz Alphonse Jean, Lesly Voltaire, Frinel Joseph, and Emmanuel Vertilaire, along with Prime Minister Garry Conille and other government members, seven out of nine members of the CEP were appointed."
