Smith Augustin and Louis Gérald Gilles Set for Possible Replacement at the CPT

In meetings with CARICOM and the UN Special Representative in Haiti, the political sectors that appointed Smith Augustin and Louis Gérald Gilles to the Presidential Transition Council have committed to replacing them as soon as possible. They have informed Le Nouvelliste that discussions have already begun in this regard. The December 21 Accord has set a 72-hour deadline to replace Louis Gérald Gilles.

Accused of corruption in the BNC scandal, Smith Augustin and Louis Gérald Gilles are on the verge of becoming former presidential advisors. The sectors that appointed them to the CPT are calling for their resignation and initiating talks to find their replacements. "It's over for Smith Augustin. We have already asked him to resign. The EDE party has asked him to resign. Discussions to replace him are underway," said one of the influential EDE leaders to Le Nouvelliste.
