Sectors Unlikely to Complete the CEP by August 26

The Presidential Council had set a deadline of August 26 for sectors to finalize their representatives to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), but as of Friday, August 23, the majority of these sectors remained divided on their choices. Some sources told Le Nouvelliste that it would be impossible to meet the Council's deadline.

Despite the Presidential Council's promise to form the CEP by the end of August, most sectors tasked with nominating members are still unable to reach an agreement. "Within the University sector, there is no consensus on our representative for the CEP. The State University of Haiti is standing by its choice, while CORPUAH is holding onto theirs," a source close to the State University of Haiti (UEH) told Le Nouvelliste. These two entities have not even entered into discussions.
