Human Rights Sector Divided Over Formation of the CEP

More than a month after the Presidential Council of Transition (CPT) designated the Organization of Citizens for a New Haiti (OCNH) and the Platform of Haitian Human Rights Organizations (POHDH) to coordinate the selection of a representative from the human rights sector to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), these organizations have failed to reach an agreement to finalize the process.

At a press conference on Friday, August 23, 2024, the Executive Director of OCNH accused POHDH of being responsible for the delay in choosing the human rights sector's representative to the CEP. According to Camille Occius, POHDH repeatedly violated the principles that had been established in advance through a guide by both parties for selecting their representative to the CEP.
