Identity Document Acquisition: A Daily Struggle at the OAVCT

Since the closure of the center at the Lycée National de Pétion-Ville, the Office of Vehicle Insurance Against Third Parties (OAVCT) has become the new focal point for issuing identity cards and archival extracts. Under the blazing sun of Pétion-Ville, many citizens are fighting daily to obtain these crucial documents.

Recently, an unusual scene has unfolded outside the OAVCT, near Place Saint-Pierre and next to the Kinam Hotel. A crowd of young women, young men, and adults braves the intense heat of Port-au-Prince, trying to navigate their way through a long queue. Their goal: to secure their identity card or archival extract.

"We arrive here well before 8 a.m., long before the office opens," reveals a visibly exhausted young woman. In their quest for identity documents, these citizens endure long waits.
