8,000 to 10,000 Public Sector Workers Have Left the Country Out of 103,000

Thousands of vacancies are reported in the public administration, as between 8,000 and 10,000 public servants have left the country out of 103,000, with many of them continuing to receive their salaries, according to the authorities. As for contract workers, the Haitian government struggles to have an exact figure on their numbers. Prime Minister Garry Conille, participating in a workshop on auditing and recapitalizing human resources in the public administration with members of his government, said he is awaiting an initial assessment of the country's human resources. This will enable his government to launch an intensive recruitment of young women and men based on meritocracy to fill and rejuvenate the public administration.
