Challenges in Selecting Future Members of the Provisional Electoral Council

Last week, invited by the Presidential Transition Council to designate their representative to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), organizations have been active in submitting their choices to the Council. At least one sector has already communicated its selection to the CPT. However, members from several sectors are struggling to reach a consensus on a common choice.

Officials from the Episcopal Conference, the University Council, human rights organizations, journalists' associations, women's rights defense associations, and trade unions all confirmed to Le Nouvelliste on Monday that they are in the process of selecting their representative to the Provisional Electoral Council. A member of the Presidential Council even reported to the newspaper that the Vodou sector has already sent its representative to the Council.
