Garry Conille Visits Initial MSSM Contingent

On Wednesday, June 26, Prime Minister Garry Conille visited the base of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) located in Clercine. Standing in the courtyard of the base, facing the police officers in training, dressed in their uniforms and armed, the Haitian head of government spoke with the head of the mission, Godfrey Otunga, and the first contingent that arrived on Tuesday, June 25.

During his visit to the base built to accommodate the elements to be deployed as part of the MSSM, Prime Minister Garry Conille praised Kenya's "extraordinary act of solidarity" in supporting Haitian security forces to end the suffering of the population. Conille described this visit as an "assessment" following the arrival of the first contingent.

"They [the Kenyan police officers] are ready to accompany and support Haitian strategies for restoring security. These men are determined and committed,"
