The Urgency to Revise the New Tax Code Before It Takes Effect

A few months before the implementation of the new Haitian Tax Code scheduled for October 1, 2024, all eyes are fixed on this document. Professionals, businesspeople, and tax specialists all recognize the country's need for such a document. However, several ambiguities were identified in the text comprising the General Tax Code, the book of tax procedures, and the final provisions. These ambiguities led them to oppose the enactment of the document in its current form.

There was a slow progression towards the implementation of the new Haitian Tax Code. Everything seemed perfect until "EGM Strategy & Management" organized a lunch debate on June 13, 2024, at the El Rancho Hotel. Dozens of participants attended and expressed their viewpoints.
