Meet Dominique Dupuy: The New Minister of Foreign Affairs, Worship, and Haitians Abroad

Dominique Dupuy is the most dynamic figure in Haitian diplomacy in recent years. As head of Haiti's delegation to UNESCO, she has propelled the country to the vice-presidency of the Executive Board and the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, after placing Soup Joumou on the global stage. At 34 years old, she now serves as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Religious Affairs, and Haitians Living Abroad.

Since January 2021, Dominique Dupuy has been the Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Haiti to UNESCO. Responsible for the submission and subsequent inscription of Soup Joumou, the first element of Haitian intangible cultural heritage on the UNESCO registry, she has initiated or led numerous projects that have elevated Haitian dignity internationally.
