Life Back to Normal in Pétion-Ville

After experiencing violent protests earlier this year and witnessing turbulence following the events of February 29, life in Pétion-Ville appears to be returning to normal. In this municipality, small businesses, vehicular traffic, and educational institutions are operating at full capacity as if the recent disturbances are a distant memory.

Our journey begins on Tuesday, June 4, in Débrosse, a neighborhood bordering the commune of Port-au-Prince. On the road leading to downtown Pétion-Ville, the tree trunks and other objects that were placed on the street to slow down vehicles have disappeared. The roadway now allows vehicles to pass without hindrance. Only the barriers erected on the public road remain, open during the day but closed at a certain hour in the evening.
