The surge in consumer prices in Haiti persists, fueling economic and social concerns in a country already plagued by insecurity and economic stagnation. In March, the General Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 391.3. By April, this index reached 398.2, marking an increase of 1.8% month-on-month and 27.3% year-on-year. Economist Kesner Pharel, speaking on Magik9 on Monday, June 3, 2024, labeled this increase as a governance failure, highlighting the persistent challenges facing Haiti.
