Haiti: 2024 Hurricane Season Predicted to Be Hyperactive

Haiti is expected to experience a very active hurricane season this year, according to meteorological forecasts. Invited to Panel Magik on Wednesday, May 22, to provide an update on the preparations of the Civil Protection Directorate as the hurricane season approaches, Emmanuel Pierre, Director of Operations at the National Emergency Operations Center (COUN), emphasized that Haiti will face 23 named storms, including 11 potential hurricanes.

"All forecasts made for this hurricane season with the Colorado State University indicate a potentially hyperactive hurricane season with 23 named storms, of which 11 could develop into hurricanes," reported Emmanuel Pierre. He further specified that out of the 11 potential hurricanes, three could reach Category 3 or higher.
