Approximately 350 Homes Destroyed, 90 More to Be Demolished Soon to Tighten Security around Toussaint Louverture International Airport

Approximately 350 houses have been demolished within the perimeter of Toussaint Louverture International Airport with the aim of securing the area. Between 80 and 90 multi-story houses posing a threat to the airport will soon be demolished in the second phase of the project. Wilcain Noël, director of municipal property for Tabarre, heavily involved in this project, provides an update for the newspaper.

Haitian authorities have been working diligently to demolish houses adjacent to Toussaint Louverture International Airport that pose a threat to the institution. Between 350 and 400 houses have already been destroyed within the northern perimeter of the airport. Approximately 90 other multi-story houses overlooking the airport have been identified for demolition, stated Me Wilcain Noël, overseeing this project for the Tabarre municipality.
