Insecurity Pushes Public Administration Away

Nearly two months after the repeated assaults by gangs allied under the name "Viv Ansanm" in various areas of the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, several public institutions are struggling to reopen their doors. Some are searching for new premises in areas considered less exposed, while others are forced to revise their operating hours or relocate certain services.

Few public or private institutions are able to withstand the assaults of gangs in downtown Port-au-Prince. In this part of the country, only the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) remains open, offering minimal services. From Rue de la Réunion to the Champ de Mars area, only the institutions occupied by law enforcement officers are holding out. Insecurity is driving government offices away, depriving citizens of essential services.
