Vanishing State Presence in Croix-des-Bouquets and Surrounding Western Municipalities

Since the attacks on the sub-police station, the prison, the police station of Croix-des-Bouquets, and the town hall premises, the commune has been in autopilot mode. No presence of law enforcement is noticed, reported residents, in this commune located 12 kilometers northeast of Port-au-Prince.

Following the attacks on the Calvaire sub-police station, the police station, and the civil prison of Croix-des-Bouquets, one of the largest in the country in terms of capacity, bandits systematically looted or set fire to private businesses, commercial banks, and state institutions, with the exception of the Office of Third Party Vehicle Insurance (OAVCT) office, indicated a source close to the commune to the newspaper. Private residences were also vandalized, and the owners extorted.

The same observation applies to the Bon-Repos
