Camille Leblanc Turns to Court of Cassation, Rejects Transition Presidential Council

While the outgoing government and the Transitional Presidential Council (TPC) cannot agree on the official method of appointing the said council, voices from society are rising to demand a president from the Court of Cassation. For proponents of this demand, it appears to be closer to the 1987 Constitution.

According to Camille Leblanc, former Minister of Justice, who was a guest on Panel Magik on Monday, April 1, this call to turn to the Court of Cassation is motivated by the inability of Haitian actors to reach an agreement despite the establishment of the TPC. "Discussions have not progressed since, and given the urgency of the moment, we propose one of the solutions that has proven itself twice," Mr. Leblanc argued.
