Former Deputy Cholzer Chancy Freed After Two Months in Detention

Former Deputy Cholzer Chancy has just regained his freedom following his hearing on Tuesday, March 27, 2024, by the new judge in charge of the embezzlement case at the National Equipment Center (CNE), Merlan Belabre. The investigating judge granted his release under Article 80 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and for humanitarian reasons.

After approximately two months of detention, former President of the Lower House Cholzer Chancy was granted release by investigating judge Merlan Belabre, who is handling the embezzlement case at the National Equipment Center (CNE). Investigating judge Belabre, who inherited the case at the end of Judge Al Duniel Dimanche's term, accepted the request made by the law firms representing the strongman from Ennery.
