Government Extends State of Emergency in Western Region for 30 Days

The government has extended the state of emergency for one month, from March 7 to April 3, 2024, throughout the territory of the west department in response to the chaos caused by gangs for over a week, according to a statement signed by Acting Prime Minister Patrick Michel Boisvert.

As part of the extension of the state of emergency in the west department, a curfew is imposed from March 7 to March 10, from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. "The law enforcement authorities have been ordered to use all legal means at their disposal to enforce the curfew and apprehend all violators," the statement dated March 7, 2024, specifies.
