Dialogue Process at Standstill between Government and Opposition...

As tension rises in the country just days before February 7, members of the political opposition have revealed to Le Nouvelliste that the dialogue process with the government is at a standstill. Simultaneously, signatories of the December 21 agreement in power indicate to the newspaper that there are attempts at reconciliation to reach a new political agreement.

The government and members of the political opposition are no longer pretending. They haven't spoken since the talks were halted last December in the presence of the CARICOM Eminent Persons Group. Between protests in Port-au-Prince and some provincial cities and the approaching February 7, both parties are crossing their fingers and waiting in silence.
