With just 7 days remaining until February 7, 2024, the scheduled date for the transfer of power to elected officials as per the terms of the December 21, 2022 agreement, the political landscape is charged with calls for armed insurrection and civil disobedience to overthrow the current government. There are still no concrete initiatives that could lead to a thaw in the Haitian crisis. The U.S. Chargé d'Affaires, Eric Stromayer, continues to believe that credible and fair elections are the only path to stability in Haiti.
