Due to Minor Malfunctions, Several Solar Pumping Systems Dysfunctional in the Northeast

Dozens of water pumping systems powered by photovoltaic solar systems, inaugurated about three years ago, are already dysfunctional. These systems serve several hundred people and are at a standstill due to breakdowns, with repair costs estimated at less than 300,000 Haitian gourdes.

In the Northeast department, there are 57 wells dug during the colonial era. These had been dysfunctional for decades. Between 2019 and 2021, five pumps equipped with photovoltaic solar systems were installed on five of these wells. These installations cost between 120,000 and 160,000 US dollars.
