Kidnapped on Friday, January 19, in Port-au-Prince, the six Catholic nuns were released on Wednesday evening after six days of captivity. Several priests who confirmed the news to Le Nouvelliste were unable to confirm whether the six nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Anne were released in exchange for ransom.

Le Nouvelliste also learned that the other occupants of the bus transporting the six nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Anne at the time of the abduction were also released.
