Passport Requests Experience Steep Decline at Immigration Office and CRLDI

A year after the frantic rush for passports following the announcement of the Biden administration's Humanitarian Parole program, Le Nouvelliste visited the premises of the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) in Lalue on Thursday, November 11, 2024, to inquire about the state of services.

Little attendance was observed on Thursday at the DIE offices in Lalue. Just a year ago, it would have been impossible to pass through the main gate of the DIE premises due to the immense crowd besieging the direction to obtain a passport. To gain access, some at the time even slept on the premises, and others went so far as to climb the direction's fence early in the morning. Today, no more long and endless lines! No more pushing and fighting to access the office.
