The year 2023 proved to be a deadly one for the Haitian National Police (PNH). In the first five days of the year alone, ten officers fell victim to gangs: four ambushed by heavily armed criminals on January 20 in Métivier, Pétion-Ville, and six during armed clashes on January 25, 2023, in Liancourt, with the Gran Grif de Savien gang and its ally from Mowodwè, attempting to invade the sub-police station of the municipality. From January to December, more than thirty-five police officers were killed by criminals.
