A total of 82 detainees, held for minor offenses for several years at the Port-au-Prince Civil Prison, regained their freedom this week. Over the course of three days, the Port-au-Prince chief prosecutor worked diligently to alleviate the burden on the country's largest detention facility, which houses a population of 3,778 detainees and convicts.
