Jean Marie Cherestal Issues Urgent Appeal for the Necessity of Dialogue Among Haitian Stakeholders

The fourth Caricom mission in Haiti concluded on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. After five days of negotiations at the Montana Hotel with political stakeholders, Caricom's eminent personalities leave empty-handed despite an initial proposal submitted to Haitian actors. While some observers consider this mission a failure, others, like former Prime Minister Jean Marie Cherestal, do not share this view.

"Yesterday, I feel that Caricom left somewhat frustrated and disappointed not to have been able to achieve a result from the various discussions," judged the former Prime Minister of Aristide between 2001 and 2002. Faced with what some label as failure, Cherestal called on Haitian political actors to come together to reach an agreement on their disagreements.
