Haiti's Election to BIE Executive Committee Fuels Dreams of Hosting World Expo

In the 173rd session of the General Assembly of the Executive Committee of the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) on Tuesday, November 28 in Paris, Haiti was elected by acclamation as a member of the executive committee of this organization. Haiti's ambassador to France, Josué Dahomey, did not conceal his dream of seeing Haiti host the World Expo again in 2049, a hundred years after the one organized by President Dumarsais Estimé at the Bicentennial.

"We were elected by acclamation along with other countries like the United States and China, just to name a few," confirmed Ambassador Dahomey to Le Nouvelliste. He emphasized that the BIE is an intergovernmental organization, created in 1928 in Paris with the objective of handling the organization of Expos.
