Haitian and Dominican Chancelleries Seek to Avoid Escalation Following November 7 Events in Ouanaminthe

The Haitian and Dominican chancellors held talks after the events of November 7 along the border and promised to work to calm tensions pending a solution to the dispute over the construction of a branch line at the Massacre River, the Haitian chancellery said in a statement on November 10, 2023.         

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cults informs that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cults, His Excellency Mr. Jean Victor GENEUS, held talks with his Dominican counterpart, His Excellency Mr. R
