Canada's New Ambassador Presents Credentials and Meets Ariel Henry

Approximately two weeks after his appointment, the new Ambassador of Canada to Haiti, André François Giroux, presented his Letters of Credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean Victor Généus, this week. The Canadian diplomat reiterated his country's commitment to "stand more than ever with Haiti," according to a statement from the chancellery. Giroux subsequently paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

Replacing Sébastien Carrière, André François Giroux is taking his first steps at the Canadian Embassy in Haiti. Arriving in a particularly challenging context for the Haitian population, the Canadian diplomat reaffirmed his country's determination to stand with Haiti more than ever. Giroux "guaranteed that his country will continue to support the Haitian National Police (HNP) and coordinate efforts among different donors," stated a note from the Haitian chancellery.
