Breathing New Life into the Ministry of Public Works with Budget Allocation

The budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024 is estimated at 320,645,000,000.000 Haitian Gourdes, representing a 19.9% increase compared to the previous fiscal year. With the exception of the Ministries of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), Environment, Foreign Affairs, and Culture, all other ministries have seen an increase in their budgets. Leading the way with 41,814,997,790 Gourdes is the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation, and Communications (MTPTC). On October 9, 2023, Minister of Economy and Finance, Michel Patrick Boisvert, announced several major projects for this fiscal year.

The stretch of road connecting Saint-Raphaël to Barrière Battant on National Road #3, as well as Ennery/Camp-Coq, are the two main projects announced by the minister for the ongoing fiscal year. In addition to this, there are plans to rehabilitate several stretches of roads in poor condition throughout the country, including the Gérald-Bataille and Maïs-Gâté segments.

Unlike last year when this ministry was largely inactive, authorities promise to do everything possible to change the situation.
