Two Power Plants Inaugurated in the Northeast

The Minister of Public Works, Transportation, and Communications (PWT&C), Rosemond Pradel, accompanied by the Ambassador of Japan to Haiti, Yuji Kubo, and the Resident Representative in Haiti of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Nick René Hartmann, inaugurated two solar power plants in the municipalities of Vallières and Capotille on October 4th and 5th, 2023. The construction of these infrastructures is part of the Rural Electrification and Women's Empowerment Project (ERAF) implemented in the municipalities of Capotille, Mont-Organisé, and Vallières.

While the one in Mont-Organisé is still pending, the micro-grids in Vallières and Capotille are ready to be operational. The suspense has lasted for over five years. It is finally done. This achievement is a sigh of relief for the stakeholders in this project. These areas will finally have uninterrupted access to electricity. According to officials, these photovoltaic solar power plants will facilitate access to clean and sustainable energy at an affordable cost for nearly two thousand households.
