Football: Haiti No Longer Hosts Matches in the Dominican Republic

The national football teams of Haiti will no longer play their matches in the Dominican Republic. Confirming this, a member of the Normalization Committee of the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) suggested that despite the violation of regulations, CONCACAF allows Haiti to change its home ground in preparation for the matches in October and November.

The heightened diplomatic tensions between Haiti and the Dominican Republic over the construction of a canal on the Massacre River, a shared resource between the two countries, have serious consequences on their relations. The Dominican president has decided to close land, sea, and air borders with Haiti in response. In reaction, the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Civic Action, through a letter, compels the FHF to no longer hold matches for our national teams in the Dominican Republic.
