Political negotiations at an impasse, Caricom considers taking the parties to discuss in another country

After the canceled meeting on September 12th due to the unavailability of the Apostolic Nunciature's premises, the Prime Minister and his allies have held several discussions on the Zoom platform with members of the political opposition, still at the initiative of Caricom's envoys. The question of Ariel Henry's resignation remains the point of contention among the parties. Caricom is considering taking the parties to discuss in another country.

"Meetings continue in a similar fashion between Ariel Henry, his allies who signed the December 21st agreement, and members of the opposition. The latter demand the resignation of the Prime Minister as one of the agenda items for the talks. The Prime Minister and his allies oppose this. Caricom, which plays the role of mediator in the crisis, is considering the possibility of restarting the talks in another country, according to several stakeholders in the talks who have reported to Le Nouvelliste.
