Cultural Friday at IDB Addresses Legal Framework for Haitian Heritage Protection and Valorization

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) hosted guests on Friday, September 15, 2023, for the revival of its "Cultural Friday," to discuss heritage, its protection, and enhancement. Corinne Cathala, the representative of the IDB in Haiti, mentioned that ideally, the IDB plans to hold one session per month. She also highlighted the numerous involvements of the IDB in heritage protection and enhancement, particularly by funding various projects through the Ministry of Tourism.

For this inaugural session moderated by Frantz Duval, editor-in-chief of Le Nouvelliste, Patrick Durandisse, the Director General of the Institute for the Safeguarding of National Heritage (ISPAN), was invited to address the legal framework surrounding Haitian heritage and the means to mobilize for its protection.

"Managing monuments that are 200, 250 years old requires not only a special disposition but also unwavering determination," stated Mr. Durandisse at the outset of his presentation, likening monuments to elderly
