In 2019, there were 162 armed groups with approximately 3,000 fighters across the entire national territory, according to a report from the National Strategy for Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (SNDDR). However, as of 2023, the number of armed gangs has doubled, and the size of their forces has tripled, as revealed by several commissioners from the National Commission for Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (CNDDR).
